The amount of pressure on her from being ridiculously hyped up by NBC for ratings and the media at large must have been absolutely insane. But she is still by definition a quitter in the end.

If you want to take only the literal meaning of the word, then you could argue that. As soon as you even start to consider the wider implications that are there when someone uses it, nope - she had completely valid reasons for pulling out. In all honesty I'm not really down with the whole "she's a hero for it" thing, but I'm even less down with the whole "she's a bad person for it" shit that some morons are pulling. She did what she needed to do, for good reason. That's how I see it. And I'd probably do the same myself at a far lower threshold.

Option A: One of the most decorated athlete's in gymnastics history who has preformed on countless national and international stages throughout the years suddenly can't handle the pressure and quits.
Option B: This experienced athlete and performer knows there is something wrong with her and doesn't want to risk hurting herself or the success of the team by performing in a compromised state. Option B seems a hell of a lot more likely. --- *Gheb is my other account* ... Copied to Clipboard!
