Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) said Wednesday that the vast majority of his Republican colleagues dont believe ex-President Donald Trumps election lies, even though they may continue to peddle them in public.
Save one or two maybe out here, nobody and I think its very important to repeat nobody actually believes the election was stolen from Donald Trump, but a lot of them are happy to go out and say it was, Kinzinger told CNNs Wolf Blitzer.

Blitzer asked Kinzinger, one of two Republicans on the nine-member House select committee investigating the U.S. Capitol riot, if any of his fellow GOP lawmakers had actually privately said to you, Good work, I support you.
Yes, oh yeah, yeah, responded Kinzinger, who has become one of his partys fiercest critics of its twice-impeached former president.
Is it just one or two? Is it a handful? Give me a ballpark number, the CNN anchor pressed.

Theres a lot of people, you know. And they come up and say it, replied Kinzinger. Its not any of the ones that go on TV and spout the big lie and then say it. Its the ones that are staying more quiet that I think appreciate the stand. But its a lot.
Blitzer asked Kinzinger if hed thought of switching parties.

No. Look, Im a Republican at heart, right? he replied. I was a Republican way before Donald Trump, since I was 6 years old. I believe in the values Im fighting for and I believe that a party of such a great rich history deserves to have people, even if its only a couple of us at the moment, in there fighting to restore the soul of it. So Im gonna fight hard for that.

The increase to voting restriction legislation in like half the country suggests otherwise.

Unless it's less "hey we care about integrity" and more "hey, we realize if everyone voted we'd be out of power. And we simply cannot have that".

But lying to their constituents, gaslighting, and underhanded power grabs are par for the course for the present day republican party.

It really is the latter - there's even the few Republicans who didn't believe there was fraud advocating for the voting changes in the name of "security"

Their feelings never cared about facts.

Not really. Ive found that most Republicans have been indoctrinated since they were born. Trump is the exception.

I wouldn't say "no one," there are definitely some genuine crazies that have been elected, but at the very least the lion's share are absolutely enablers and cowards that don't believe it but go along with it.

In my life, I do unfortunately have a cousin that believes the big lie.
