If wasnt even 70% fully vaccinated either. It was based off one dose. Which was insane since we knew at the same time you needed two doses to be protected from the Delta Variant.

Im guessing they were banking on it would go away on its on and it backfired.

Why do you need the CDC to advise you? It's easy enough to find the basic information that would lead to anyone with common sense concluding that, unless you live in a covid-free location (that is also at low risk of having covid introduced to it), you should wear a mask - whether you're vaccinated or not, whether others are vaccinated or not.

That might change after a booster shot / an updated shot that handles the new variants better. But right now, "masks work" + "vaccines don't 100% prevent transmission" + "vaccines are less effective against Delta (and for that matter, the other VOCs except Alpha)" = "wear the damn mask".

I was in a CDC quarantine after my evacuation flight from Wuhan in February of last year. The people running the camp told us we didn't need to wear masks, we could hang out in groups (they even had daily group meetings), no one in the US would die from COVID, we weren't tested (even though my neighbors were clearly very sick), and they mixed in new arrivals with us without resetting our two weeks.

At this time people were defending their masks don't work bullshit despite a paper published in early February in Nature from the University of Hong Kong showing masks did work. I fucking hate CDC apologists who defend their terrible decisions. I had to wear a mask the whole time I was in Wuhan if I wasn't inside and there were severe restrictions on anyone leaving our apartment. We were tested multiple times in the way to the airport and at the airport.

Similarly on my return flight to Japan from America after quarantine everyone was wearing a mask and it continued like that and still is the case everyone here is wearing a mask. The CDC is garbage and you guys need to stop making excuses for them.

The only thing that "changed" from them announcing we could stop masking at 70% til them lifting the mandate early is that the outlook got worse! They changed the plan in the exact opposite way that they should have.

I was under the impression that he knew masks worked, but they were more critical for healthcare workers than the average person.

We all saw what happened with TP. Could you imagine hospitals running out of masks because Joe Hoarder bought most of them up?
