No. What is fucked up is that people think plastic straws are "microplastic."

Microplastic are tiny beads of plastic that are used in manufacturing. One box can hold millions and ruin an entire ecosystem.

It's already everywhere. There is so much microplastic in the water that your internal organs (heart, liver, etc) already have small amounts of plastic in them.

EDIT: From what I've seen we need tougher restrictions on shipping boxes of microplastics. A few boxes fell apart in New Orleans recently and they got EVERYWHERE. They do cleanup like with an oil spill, but they can't get them all.
