I guess if you think about it too much it is.

It's pretty much shrimp essence full of collagen and whatever else comes out of the shells and those little meaty legs attached after boiling. Like The Dark Crystal but you can put it on your pasta

Just for reference, after simmering for an hour it came out this color and tastes like straight up shrimp. I really didn't know the shells held so much whatever

I make gumbo a couple times a year. It's a lot of work to make the roux if you do it right. Making shrimp scampi this time and I'll freeze whatever broth is left over.
