Started watching the show Red Oaks and made me feel a bit of nostalgia. I remember as a kid/teen going into tower records and sneaking a peak at X rated magazines. I miss the culture of spending a week planning what to rent and anticipating "movie nights" with your family. Or spending most of the days after school at an arcade while you wait for mom to cook you supper at home. Times were a lot more innocent for kids and adults back in the days. When did everything suddenly turn to ****? I can't help but feel a deep sense of melancholy when I look at how fast everything is pacing today. I suppose the only constant in life is change, but it's brutal. Really is.

I remember as a kid hovering around the Romance section of the video store hoping to catch a glimpse into "that room" and see naked boobies on the VHS covers when people left and the curtain was open for a few seconds. My dad knew exactly what I was doing, he'd give me a hard time about it and say stuff like "Real into those heartfelt movies, are ya now?"

No, I never once rented a porno. By the time I hit puberty, I had internet access and was able to have time alone here and there.

I remember working at a video store in twenty-fucking-thirteen and still having old guys come in to buy and rent it, though. Like dude, the internet. And also adult shops if you really need to buy them, you dont need to come into this chain video store where all the regular people are.

Maybe these guys get turned on by associating certain stimuli with the past by watching videos instead of the internet. Kind of like when you smell or taste something, you suddenly remember things you normally wouldn't have.

I was just watching La Pianiste last night and the whole stuff in that 90s ass sex shop (or 2001 I guess) was so damn weird to me. I at least had dial up as a teenager. Can't even imagine going to one of those places to actually watch porn. Buy some shit sure, but just go jerk off in a little dressing room? That whole movie was basically like "Damn it had to be hard as fuck to be into BDSM freaky shit before the internet."

I remember surfing to the porn or playboy channel (without a subscription), and you can see some stuff thru the static jumbo, and sometimes you can hear the audio clearly too. I do the same thing when trying to get in on WWE PPVs.

What do you guys think about me using my money to open a vintage VHS shop where you rent out a room that's designed to look like a typical 80s home. You'll get to watch your old movies on a tube box tv and relive your past through a familiar setting. I'll target a niche demographic of people that are looking to escape reality and regress into their youth form.

Charge $100 flat fee for 4 hours of use? Then again, there's also the possibility that people are just going to be fornicating in their rooms. Hmmmm

Remember at a local bookstore the porn section was straight down the aisle from the register so they could see who was back there, but on the opposite side of the shelf was magazines as well, out of the workers sight.

Wed just grab a car magazine or Guns N Ammo or whatever and pretend were reading it, while unbeknownst to the worker we reached over and snagged whatever porn mag we laid our hands on first and put that INSIDE the ordinary magazine and perused away

Then after, probably left with a Goosebumps book
