went into the store and talked to the manager, put my name on the waiting list for a tudor black bay 58 (https://imgur.com/6FXzDJw not my wrist)

i also intimated that i was interested in the rolex OP and he was very conversational, so i talked to him about his family, my interest in watches and other stuff. he said he could tell i was a watch guy because i wore my omega aqua terra lol

so the way this math works is this:

-when i bought my condo, i saved 10k by not meeting the realtor in the middle and forcing him to accept my price

-the tudor bb58 is a 4k watch (i actually do want this watch btw) that sells for 4k on the resale market
-after i get that watch, he'll know im serious and he already likes me so he'll help me get a rolex
-the rolex is 6k and resells for 12k on the resale market
-this means i would have used that 10k to buy 10k worth of watches that are now worth 16k
-note that i do not actually view these watches as an investment, it's more of a nice salvage value type thing where if i needed the cash i can get it quickly, but i actually want/like the watches

Lol my income is significantly less than 20k/month. I save and splurge on things I think are worth it. as mentioned, this is coming from savings from the condo
