I play the same 4-5 modern games all the time (mostly just messing around) while mixing in older games. Been replaying GTA 3 and been thinking of replaying Ocarina of Time.

mix of both, although most of the newer games I play are on steam and generally aren't triple A games.

Probably retro, or as in games more than 10 years old.

The newest game I play regularly is Mordhau, Chiv-like first person medeival combat game. Honestly the combat is superior to either Chiv game. It has the best first person melee combat of any game, ever. So much freedom and variety of attacks, while still being really intuitive. It's honestly genius, the way they took Chivalry's combat and busted it open. Just look up some Mordhau videos.

Other than that, it's back to the old rotation. Morrowind, Half-Life 2, the Bungie Halos, 3d GTAs, Left 4 Dead, Tony Hawk ProSkater/Underground. I'm a sucker for those big mid-2000s franchises (I know several of those are still big names, but they really exploded that generation).

And then I love 16 bit gaming as well, SNES and Genesis. I have a super famicom and a good deal of super famicom greats. I love 2d beatemups from the 90s. Streets of Rage, Final Fight (though my personal favorites would be King of Dragons, Goldenaxe, the hack n slash side of that genre). Actually the arcade beatemups of this time are even more incredible.

I play a good mix of games from various generations.

I've got PS2, PS3, PS4 and Raspberry Pi hooked up and ready to go at all times.
