I kind of laugh at this notion of being "on top" in a country that lacks any type of serious plan for Universal Health Care leading to some of the worst health discrepancies in the wealthy world, often struggles to educate much of it's populace leading to a culture of disturbing amounts of crime and an embarrassingly large prison population, has an increasingly visible wealth gap that traps many of her citznetry if not in outright poverty pretty damn close to it, has fallen behind in much of the serious metrics of infacasture thus potentially leading to a loss of economic productivity in many departments if not corrected, and has seen one side of it's political aisle openly try to jump the safeguards of our Constitution that they claim to revere thus leading to some of the worst potential political instability not seen since the lead up to the secession crisis that triggered our bloodiest war.

many in this topic of course think our country could of course NEVER collapse or backslide rapidly in living standards due to frankly outright arrogance, if you are genuinely concerned about the future of the great American experiment your alarm bells should be at max output observing the trends of the what last 4 decades.

Science and military are intrinsically linked and American culture is basically all stolen from somewhere else. What's positive about culture that actually originated in the US?

However, that's all nitpicking. The reason that the US is in the position it is on the world stage is wealth and it's willingness to spend on the military, pure and simple.

Is it the most stupid country? Probably not. I doubt there's a significant difference in terms of pure intelligence with other countries. It does, however, come across as a country with a disproportionate amount of ignorance.

What does that have to do with the average person? We tend to look at the greatest people in American history and think we are special simply for being born in the same country. Just because Steve Jobs was born in America doesnt mean that there arent a lot of complete idiots here.

America claims to be the greatest nation on the planet, so why be afraid to take an objective look and see how valid that claim is? it's like certain types of people are used to making claims but have more sentiment than substance to back it up.

Americans are more indoctrinated than educated, and many of them subconsciously know better... but delusions of grandeur, low self-esteem and a desperate need for validation are passed down as heritage and tradition. lack of accountability is also a ingrained in these cultures.

if you can get a large amount of a people to willingly kill and die for reasons that contradict everything they claimed to believe just because they're bitter and want to be part of a team, that's a pretty good candidate for "nation of dummies." maybe not 100% of them but enough to dictate the direction of it's society. there's that old "might is right" bully mentality.

America is a 1st world nation that actively combats education and even discourages transparent discussions. look how fast people are quick to deflect and derail. they celebrity worship to the point they value the words of reality show host over doctors and other professionals despite all of the deaths and repeated history.

not a good look when the "leaders of the free world" suddenly want to be held to the same standards as less developed nations when the spotlight is on.

american is too broad of a generalization. this country isnt like an EU state where the population is relatively homogenous. I would argue that certain regions of the US are the dumbest part of the 1st world, but I would also kind of argue they aren't really 1st world states at all
