Cold war is just ramping up though.

They release these game too fast.

Also, ffs transfer over blueprints from game to game already cod making people. If you can churn out a new game in a year or two no problem, you can make a fucking gun database that atleast spans 2 or 3 games ffs. People will still keep buying them even if you only don't do all of them from all games.

The issue with the guns is that the games are developed on different iterations of their game engines that don't allow the direct port-over of guns from one to another. The different games are using different equations and variables for how damage, recoil, sighting, and handling are worked. Even just the gun models and animations need to be re-done or touched up. Porting one gun to another is pretty similar in work flow to... Just designing and making a new gun.

6v6 Call of Duty is dead

Hardly anyone plays it anymore and it doesn't get the attention it deserves from developers

Call of Duty used to release with over a dozen 6v6 maps at launch, MW2 had 16 at release I think, nowadays it takes an entire year of post-release content to hit that number

Yes.. Warzone may be trash atm and infested with hackers, but sadly many STILL play it especially streamers. The streamers are basically promoting the game every single day and most are not even playing black ops CW and MW2019 standard multiplayer.

I feel that this new COD sales will be lower, WZ will loose lots of players but still the most playable this year, and Battlefield 2042 will be the FPS of the year.

Imo, Warzone itself is killing the COD franchise and even COD pros are worried too.

Activision killed the golden goose with how they've treated Warzone. It was on track to completely dominate the BR genre.

The unbalanced gun meta, the army of bots and cheats, the stale, inconsistent artstyle and map, the plethora of QoL changes needed, the confusing menus, and above all the complete lack of optimization have really killed the game.

What? It was easily one of the best shooters of the last generation and it was also probably DICE's best selling game of all time.

I still play Modern Warfare 2019, never bothered picking up Black Ops 2020.

I enjoyed Warzone but I stopped enjoying it less when they started incorporating stuff fromBlack Ops into it.

It's odd that they are skipping the MW 19 sequel for a WWII centered game. MW 19 felt like it got people excited to play COD again.

MW2 is probably the 2022 CoD. It's a three studio rotation now, this is the sledge hammer game.

I also theorize that MW2 will launch WZ2, but I'm not sure.

Ahh. I forgot it was on a three studio rotation now, I thought it was still just the two.

its fucking garbage, its not a World War I game at all, its a World War II game with different hats.

ive been begging for a AAA WWI shooter since 2010 and having that be the first real offering was a kick in the teeth. It fucking sucked.
I mean, you can complain about your expectations all you want, but a "True to form" WWI game would be eviscerated by the player base DICE has accumulated over the years. 98% of the game would be bolt-action rifles and artillery. Splash in some pistols, grenades, and a couple machine guns per side.

Fact of the matter is, "Mid-Late Western Front" combat does not appeal to the average player. They did what they could with the source material to provide some theme to the game while also ensuring a variety of styles of gameplay were still supported. It was a good compromise, especially after playing games like Verdun where the design really starts to show the limitation of the traditional idea of "WWI Combat". I liked Verdun, but it's not a highly appealing design.

Battlefield just needs to expand on BF4 with a lot of guns, a lot of awesome customization of them and fun and diverse maps. BF1 and 5 had absolute garbage guns and customization of them, and the maps often devolved into just a mess of brown or green or white with just rocks and other terrain to hide in.

Seriously, the lack of being able to tweak my guns was such a huge loss. BF4 I have no shortage of tools and gadgets and attachments to play with the plethora of guns. BF1 felt like a huge huge huge step backwards.

Frontline mode is sick, though.

I loved bad company 2, I enjoyed the change of pace with the more linear map design that created more fast paced combat. I agree saying nothing has been great since then is extreme. Although battlefield 3 wasn't great it was solid, 4 was fantastic though. I respect what they were trying to do with 1 and 5 somewhat but I couldn't get into them at all. I'm really hoping I enjoy this one and it has some staying power for me.

I think this is why COD still will always have a place in the shooter space. BF IMO is at its best with it's long, expanded conquest/rush games. There are times when it's intense but there are also some downtimes when you've got no one to spawn in on and no good objective to spawn on.

But sometimes, you want to jump into a quick 12 minute constant brawl of firefights, and that's where COD comes in.

Not saying one style is better than the other by any means, but it goes to show how both should exist.

I was hoping after BF1 they would have heard it, but turns out it wasn't until BF5 was poorly received that they (hopefully) went back. Seeing the "jump-out-of-the-jet-and-blow-up-another" gives me hope that it will have the crazy "Battlefield moments" I feel like I've been missing for years.

Also I want to say. Bad Company 2 is probably my most favorite online shooter. I absolutely adore that game.

Tell me more about taking hundreds of hours to unlock everything unless you pay for class shortcuts.

Every time a new BF game is about to come out there is always a horde of people saying "this one is gonna kill CoD!!" But yet only sells a fraction of the amount that CoD does.

I've never agreed with pay2win stuff, but let's be real, nobody was going for the sole purpose of "unlocking everything." I played a shit ton and stuff just kinda unlocked stuff over time without ever once feeling "grindy."

The gameplay itself is all I care about.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

In fairness I ignore the campaigns so I can't speak to that. But the multiplayers were all I cared about and they were phenominal.

Lmao

completely disagree. heck... imo as a "battlefield pro", BF1 is probably by far the best BF game on last gen alone. BF4 was too buggy and never got an enhancement update, Hardline was heavily hated on, and BFV.... well.. being BFV.

my personally rankings on last gen

  1. BF1
  2. BF4
  3. Hardline (yes.. this game is actually fun).
  4. BFV
