I'd say the Zapatistas and Rojava are two of the best modern examples of leftist societies that you could look to.

Those famines you're referring to that happened "before China was communist" mostly occured in the late 50s and early 60s. The communist party and Mao had been in power for nearly a decade at that point.

Holy shit you are so wrong its not even funny. Im talking about millennia of recurring famines. Yeah Mao made some bad administrative mistakes while trying to rapidly industrialize that resulted in catastrophic failure, but overall China has greatly benefited from the revolution. Look at the numbers I cited and stop posting bullshit lies, thanks.

Only cost upwards of 45 million lives. Not surprising the resident genocide denier thinks that's a small footnote.

Real Communism hasn't been tried yet

Is real communism too stupid to win enough people over to be implemented without a fascist dictatorship to force it on people?

http://monthlyreview.org/commentary/did-mao-really-kill-millions-in-the-great-leap-forward/

This is a source for claims about Mao's Great Leap Forward, which explains why the talk of tens of millions is highly fabricated.

https://zcomm.org/zcommentary/millennial-visions-and-selective-vision-part-one-by-noam-chomsky/

In any case, even famous anti-communists Noam Chomsky and Amartya Sen provide comparative analyses between Maoist China and India that show that China's socialist policies between 1949-1976 actually saved 100 million people relative to India, which started in similar conditions as China.

When comparing death rates between socialist countries and capitalist countries, the socialist country will almost always win out, even if the comparison is biased in favor of capitalism by picking a more technologically advanced country. Pick almost any hard stat (life expectancy, literacy, infant mortality) and the communists will win. Only through mathematical illiteracy and obscuring the obscene amounts of deaths from capitalist starvation, violence, disease, homelessness can anti-communists put anything on their agenda.

The Lenin takeover of Tsarist Russia during WWI and the decades-long aftermath from that point to when you find the USSR being across from the US as one of two legitimized superpowers in the 1950s is far and away the most interesting part of communist related history out there so far. Its a saga.

Anything else so far has been paltry in comparison.
