Imperial Germany did some despicable acts in Africa including genocide. Nazi Germany applied its colonial practices, as well as practices done in the Americas, and applied them to Europe.

because you'd be talking about pretty much all of europe at that point. europeans have spent centuries ignoring their own countries bullshit while pointing out and bitching at others for the same.

Well, you already explained part of it, unfortunately.
But it's also worth noting that nothing the German Empire did in Africa was exceptional(they all did that), and certainly not worse than the Belgian Congo.

Pretty much all of major European powers were being awful throughout the rest of the world at that time. Not that it justifies any of it, but it isn't like England could use it as a point to villainize Germany without looking like complete hypocrites.
