First episode started off like a Marvel cartoon. Fun, a bit dark, predictable, but good setup and world. Then the ending scene. Wow.

From there, it gets pretty good.

And then the stupid Amber plotline. The dumb college episode.

Then Omniman gets exposed. But it never hit the highs of the first episode again.

I also dont like the setups for a season 2 that were just flat out dropped in S1. At least they had the balls to show hints in the ending.

Overall, i really loved it. The mood whiplash was harsh. Goofy college adventure episode, then everyone dies, its harsh.

Also is Robot just gonna get away with releasing two murdering criminals? I liked him a lot before that happened.

And then the stupid Amber plotline. The dumb college episode.

Eh Amber was hit and miss. I didnt mind her storyline. Cant have a teen superhero without them struggling to balance social and super hero lives.

Just think. Now you're all set to hunt and kill to your heart's content.

It was pretty good, yeah.

My only issues with it were the art (magnitudes less detailed and more generic than the source material) and the somewhat stiff animation. The story was pretty good though. JK Simmons was an interesting choice for Omniman too.

It was pretty good. Some of the annoying modern money-saving animation techniques kind of kill the mood here and there more so than other western series. The Amber plots conclusion was nonsensical in how it was portrayed up until that moment. There are several ways to have written it with the dismissal of his revelation feeling actually fair. Having looked at some summaries of what happens later in the comic, curious to see how much they adapt in later seasons because it seems to get really goofy later in the franchise.

It was weird how in only 8 episodes they still mishandled Amber and weirdly contradicted themselves with her scenes in one episode and then the next. Both trying to subvert the "superhero trying to balance social life and keeping identity secret" yet also play it straight. It seemed like they wanted to have their cake and eat it too.

When I saw how old the comic was, I realized it made sense why so much of it was predictable; when it came out it must have been pretty original but since then so many shows and movies have copied the formula.

Overall I enjoyed it, but based on pictures posted there's so much material to cover one can't wait to see it all.

But seriously Robot is a creep, worse than even "generic asshole" Rex, and there's no justification for anything he did, like jfc. Them handwaving it away is worse, with the only acceptable explanation is that the bigger threat of Omniman overshadows it (which was really only widely known in the last episode)

That last scene with Omniman flying away in space... that actually hit pretty hard. Still I do hope they do his arc better than just Vegeta-esque redemption when he brutally murdered so many people
