they hoping for exactly when every major race is already represented in character creation?

The only thing I could think of would be the different breeds of Khajit and Argonians but aside from that there's not many other options.

I remember when the DLCs/Expansions for Oblivion and Skyrim would come out there'd always be a major reviewer who would negatively note that "the expansion doesn't provide anything like new races..."

Probably idiots who were used to mmo expansions adding races

I can't think of any realistic new playable race to add. The only time the series has ever added a race I think was in morrowind when orcs were playable. You cant be an Orc in Arena or Daggerfall

They will never do Akavir. They can't live up to the hype. I am convinced Akavir is inspired by what the Roman's used to believe about the British isles, or at least Ireland specifically.

Roman's thought Ireland was literally the end of the earth. And they had all those rumors aboit what lived there. Like men with no heads and other weird stuff. They though Ireland was this place on the edge of reality where normal rules didn't apply

I've always thought that is where the idea of Akavir comes from. If they ever actually include it, it will probably debunk all the crazy myths about it and it will just be normal people living there

It wouldn't, they were just the first NPC races that popped into my head.

That's interesting. Reminds me of what Herodotos wrote on what the Thracians told him lay beyond their land, a land that was unsettled because there were too many bees.

Isn't it stated in that one Skyrim dlc that this indeed what has happened? That a few falmer/snow elves have managed to survive?

Yeah never say never of course, but I would be very surprised if they ever touched Akavir.

But yeah there's really no other race they could add. I guess the Maormer could technically be possible since they appear in ESO as NPCs. But they're also not natives of Tamriel, and for that reason alone they wouldn't make much sense. The Dwemer, Snow Elves, and Ayleids are the only other major Tamriel races. And they're of course either totally or mostly extinct.

Maybe they could flesh out the Imga or something.

In the Dawnguard DLC you literally meet two Snow Elves.

IIRC there were only like two or three

Though one does say there might be more out there and he's going to try to find them.

Yes I do remember them but I was refering to unknown small tribes of them existing still. I thought they mentioned that there were more than two still remaining?

Oh and I forgot a "race", The Forsworn. They do seem to consider themselves different from Skyrims Nords and Bretons. I wonder if they are different enough to be considered their own race.

I'd love a game set in the first era where you can play as the Dwemer, Chimer, Nedes, Falmer, and the setting could be all cosmically weird and magitek

But I get why they wouldn't go back to that I guess lol

The Forsworn mythos and idea behind them was cool. Just executed very poorly, and with no real sense of conclusion. They just attack you no matter what, you can't join to help them or obliterate them entirely either.
