It doesn't make any sense logically but I get why. It's the same as people being afraid that the covid vaccine might do something harmful to them... People are a lot more scared to take a risk when they put themselves into it willingly then when they just kinda co-exist with it passively, even when taking the risk directly gives much better odds of coming out in a good situation.

The technology right now is still fairly new so it makes sense for people to have hesitancy for it. But I honestly can't wait until we fully mastered the tech and most cars become self driving.

Sometimes when I'm going down the road I realize how insane it is for two vehicles going 60mph heading towards each other with only a couple feet of clearance. Our roadways are designed for death.
My concern with self driving cars is mechanical error. Until I'm assured there's a 0% chance it could fuck up and drive off a cliff I'll be weary. --- This is where cool people write stuff. ... Copied to Clipboard!

People just don't like the thought of if a crash happened, it was the cars fault and not theirs. Probably thinking there is some kind of malfunction out of their control. I can understand that, no one wants to get hurt/die because of something they didn't do, but for some reason people think they're better drivers than a computer.
I personally can't wait until all cars are self driving. A self driving car in the middle of a bunch of people (who drive poorly) can cause some accidents. But if all cars were self driving, and can communicate with each other, there would be almost no crashes. Also traffic would be completely eliminated because you won't have people coming to a stop so they can merge while other people speed up to block them, or everyone slowing down to look at a person being pulled over for a standard traffic stop. All the cars can still go the normal speed and merge together like a zipper and not break pace. --- I am a juggler/prop manipulator/fire performer, here's my channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/markconigliaro ... Pretty much this. I get that there are occasions where your life is pretty much in the hands of some form of computer controlled machine but none are as frequent as a computer controlled car would be for me. And I'm curious as to programming logic. Would they be able to program it so my car does not swerve because someone's dog ran into the road? Because I'm not stopping for anything that isn't a human being or a direct "I'm fucked" impediment such as another car or a massive tire or a fucking log in the road. --- Why do nerds always get caught up on the details?
