(Remove space before Manchester) I was offered a little movie called Avatar, James Cameron offered me 10% of it, he recalled. I will go down in history you will never meet an actor who turned down more money. Movie made 2.8 billion. --- Kind Regards, Darmik ... Copied to Clipboard!

I dont know what matt Damon's career earnings are and I assume that would have probly trippled them but also who care when you have that much money already.

I would have explained to the Bourne producers that I would be making over a quarter billion dollars to shoot in front of a green screen for a few months and if they weren't okay with pushing shooting back they could suck my ass cheeks.

He was probably bound by a massive contract for Bourne, guys. Who would imagine a movie like that could trump his entire decade long salary from those movies or whatever. Besides, then hed be known as the actor who breaks longterm commitments in the middle of them. Not a good look if you want another gig.
but yea Damon what were you thinking, man? ;) ... Copied to Clipboard!

The movie made 2.8 billion dollars, but there was no way he would have known that going in. While it is James Cameron, he hadn't directed anything noteworthy since 97 with Titanic. After that he switched to documentaries, so it was a toss up if his return to cinema would be a win or a loss. Obviously it was a massive success, partly because the movie was good, but also because they were massively pushing the changeover from dvd to blu-ray players and Avatar was going to be that "one movie you needed to see on blu-ray, to appreciate how good blu-ray was". That and a couple nature documentaries.
He made the smart choice at the time. Lets not forget that while he would have gotten 280 million dollars from Avatar, it would have blocked up his schedule for every other movie he was filming. He did release about 10 films in a 3 year period. Might not be close to 280 million dollars, but with a net worth of 170 million dollars, it's not like he's suffering for money. ... I'm confused, the last bourne movie came out in 2007, avatar came out all the way at the end of 2009? Where is the overlap? He would have been done with the bourne movies by the time avatar started shooting wouldn't he?
Heck with all the ridiculous shaky cam, they probably coulda put in the stunt double and no one would have noticed :p (I actually loved the bourne trilogy as a teen but don't really like them anymore, shaky cam being one of the reasons) Haven't watched avatar of course, but it seems like it's just a case of "multi-millionaire missed out on a couple more millions" I mean he's already rich so... it's not as bad as some other cases of b-list actors missing out on a-list movies. --- ...
