Well... that was certainly an ending. So Sylvia just sets people up to fight each other and cons them out of LB dollars with sign up fees? And it so happened that his sister was number 1? And she was married to his twin, for reasons? And they met in a bar after Travis' parents were killed? And I guess Henry didn't give af? Not like any of this matters but it's funny to list out the deliberate absurdity.

I'm not sure why I liked this game, but I definitely liked this game. Somehow the way everything felt meaningless really drove me to continue the game. There's also nothing super amazing about the gameplay, and it's very janky, the item works seems to be as bland and lifeless as reasonably possible. But it all works to something that's more than the sum of its parts.

7/10, but more worth a play than most 7/10 games. On to the sequel!

The best parts about the games is the absurdity and how creative the boss fights were. If you care about the story, just pretend the second game doesn't exist. But if you want more zany and crazy bossfights (and better minigames), the second game definately delivers.

I had seen a review about how the between fight segments were satire of open world games. And honestly coming in with that mindset made them amusing, at least for a while.

It would be strange to me if 2 addressed any story elements from 1 at all tbh. Ngl I enjoyed the variety of boss gimmicks and stages, but the game relied way too much on absurd amounts of invincibility for me to call the bosses fun or well designed from a game play perspective.

Also I do like the "You idiot, why would he be your father? I am your sister!"

Yeah, the craziness about NMH1 with the Assassination Guild being a giant con is just kinda ignored in NMH2 where it pretends the Guild always existed. At least that's what I remember.

I'm so confused by posts saying that 2 ruins the story considering I dont even remember the story and though its been over a decade I didn't even understand the story at the time lol. It was so nonsensical and I'd probably have to fish out my wii and replay the games to get a grasp on what happened. I just remember a hack and slash
