Aliens arrive from another planet but they are incredibly sick.

Their planet's atmosphere was altered by a substance called Ketracel-Black which while harmless to humans, is killing them. The treatment (treatment, not cure) for the illness involves silicon which doesn't exist on their planet so they have come here for it.

Busisness' around the world are more than happy to put a desperate group of workers with no where else to turn and who never complain to work in all the most menial jobs imaginable for the lowest they can get away with paying.

As a result there is a new near slave like labor force of aliens working as second class citizens across the globe in evey country, spending every penny they earn on silicon to send home. Often living 24 per room and eating trash just to save costs.

Your son is a doctor working with a team of scientists on a cure for the aliens condition. But they're not having any luck.... OR so you thought!

However your son's husband Barry approaches you one day out of the blue in a complete panicking state of confusion and dread. He reveals that he accidentally discovered incontrovertible proof that the Ketracel-Black phenomena wasn't a natural occurance. But instead artifically created and inflicted onto the alien planet by your son.

There's a reason why the treatment needs silicon and there was none on their planet. The illness was constructed with that purpose in your mind. Your son was contracted by global mega-corps around the world who discovered that the aliens existed before the public knew and purposefully plotted ideas on how to turn them into a cheap labor force. Your son's proposal won out and they funded it.

He wasn't a millionaire working on big government scientific programs to find a cure like you thought. He's a billionaire working on big business corruption and evil that has caused intense suffering, needless deaths and a wave of near-slavery across the globe. He created Ketracel-Black, he formlated how to introduce it to the alien planet in a way won't trace back to Earth and his work currently is to ensure no cure is found, the illness continues to look like a natural occurance and the treatment remains at the same level of success. Keeping aliens in the lifelong sweet spot of permanently sick but still able to work. Never recovering or deteriorating too much on too large a scale. So the plan is always viable.

Barry doesn't know what to do with this revelation and has come to you for advice. He hasn't told anyone.

How do you react?
What do you do?

And then I open the trapdoor to the gator pit.

I send him to go live in the woods for a year to be trained by my mortal enemy. Then when he's strong enough to defeat King Piccolo, we can use the dragon balls to wish back Krillin, Master Roshi, and Chiaotzu.

It is so common that there is literally no reason to go to Earth. Like why not Mars, you know where no people live? And like earth, is mostly silicon?
Or another random solid planet in the galaxy that isnt like just a chunk of iron.

Probably because they would die on Mars.

Let alone terraform it, then extract all the silicon while dying and without retaliation from Earth

Your son's whole plan was to bring them to Earth on their knees. That plan doesn't work if the treatment is platinum.

It doesnt work if it is so common they have millions of options besides coming to Earth. Youd want something that is reasonably common on earth, but also is not super common in a whole bunch of other places.

Thered be no need to terraform Mars, youd just make a few mining colonies and ship tons of rock back to their plant. If they want it less obvious, then they can mine asteroids. Or like find another system.

I mean, we currently could do that. If they are capable of traveling here and sending resources back they should be able to as well. Since interstellar travel is a fair bit harder. And unlike us, they have an incentive that makes it economically viable.

Not really?

It's not economically viable at all, they just have to do it to not die

in fact the difficulty in transportation and need of our assistance just plays into the plan.

1. That's horrible.

2. Why would they assume this plot of infecting this random planet would result in cheap slave labor?

3. The aliens could easily sell their spacecraft technology and buy all the silicon they could ever want.

Because that was the plan.

They come desperate for our resources, they have no money, they work for money to buy our resources

3. The aliens could easily sell their spacecraft technology and buy all the silicon they could ever want.

Great and then everyone on their planet dies as a tiny minority survive on Earth until they too die or go into slavery anyway once their money runs out

When Captain Oates went for his walk he didn't leave landmines behind so everyone else dies except him and the walk was to save his own life.

But why would they come here? Silicon is pretty abundant and there's no reason to assume they'd come here since we're so behind them technologically. They nearest star is four light years away and we don't really know shit about them except what they're composed of. How did humans determine that this planet was inhabited, advanced enough to travel here, aware of Earth, susceptible to "Ketracel-Black," wouldn't annihilate us as soon as they showed up, and send an attack probe there that wasn't traceable to Earth?

This scenario is riddled with plot holes, more so than your usual hypotheticals.

D-

And who the fuck is Captain Oates?
