I just saw a ad for a BMW X7 for 90k. Like what is the point at that price?

You could legit buy a new Chevy Blazer and a slightly used LC 500 for the same price. You have a family SUV as well as a dope ass Luxury sports car.

It just blows my mind people spending money on a high end SUV.

Buying a X7 isn't flashy, it's a boring SUV. Nobody is going to stop in the streets and be like "yo did you see that X7 pass by?"

Its the fact that they can buy something that expensive and most of the people around them cant. Plus, its a luxury SUV from BMWthats flashy for most people.

most people lease them just to show off. its the easiest way to give off the perception of wealth without having to actually prove it.

Yeah I told my parents I wanted a Rav4 Prime last week (just letting them know what I was planning, they're not helping me pay for it or anything) and they spent like 20 minutes trying to convince me to buy either a fucking Land Rover or BMW. I can't even afford that shit but I should've known because their last 6 cars have been those and they currently have two Range Rovers....and a paid off BMW sedan.

But they don't show off their stuff to anyone. I'm going either Rav4 or Lexus NX450h+ because when I buy something I plan to keep it for a long time.

I get what TC is saying. SUVs don't have that same fancy vibe as a sedan or sports car.

I have to also add that in some cases it is a tremendously irresponsible financial decision as are all BMW's. Like "should I get a 7 year old X7 or a brand new Honda Pilot with all the trimmings?"

3 years later for the pilot with about $500 in maintenance costs and 3 years later for the BMW with about $15,000.

BMW's aren't lemons or bad cars by any means but when they do have issues of any kind and it happens at about the rates of a Honda or any other decent car it costs 3-5 times as much to fix. Its going to happen if you own the car over the long term which is why they are a shit thing to buy used.

It's not a Chevy. That's the point. If you've ever driven or owned a Bimmer, you'd know downgrading to a Chevy simply isn't an option. Just like how even the best store bought steak will always taste meh after having 30 day aged and butter cured new York strip from Pittsburgh Blue.

I love SUVs and would get the best one I could if I was rich. It's nice being high off the ground when you're driving and having lots of room to haul stuff.

If I were loaded I think the highest I would go is Range Rover. It sits up high and that thing is a beast on the road. I can only compare it to a BMW X6 though since those are the only two I've driven. Anything else is really overkill imo

But I'm trying to not spend a car down payment on maintenance yearly

Edit: Nevermind forgot about the electric Hummer. Yeah that would be my goto https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFF08MZuRIA
