Someone high level summize what it's about for non book readers please

Your basic good vs evil story. Similar to The Lord of the Rings with the evil guy having magic users working for him directing the created army to destroy everything. There is a lot of description of everything in the book though, from people to nations, to buildings, and clothing. The author really paints a picture with his words so you can imagine what it would look like. Not to mention there were some almanac like books released so you can actually see what stuff looks like to.

This except it differs greatly in the sense that a main character (mild early spoiler) is the dragon reborn and therefore potentially more powerful than the bad guy.

Considering the god awful casting choices that just spit in the face of all Jordan's hardwork, no I am not looking forward to this anymore. Jordan meticulously described every detail in his books, literally every detail, so to just completely ignore his work for the sake of pushing an agenda is utterly disrespectful to his memory. I can't believe Harriet is allowing this.

I mean, she was involved in the casting. Shes more than allowing it.

Didn't Sanderson finish this series? Was there a noticeable change?

The women definitely arent useless in his universe. For most of the series they have all the magic power and basically run the world

But they were often poorly written and if the Rand-harem stuff was dropped that would probably be a good idea

So we're told but like what do they actually do? (Talking specifically about the Aes Sedai, not the awesome female main characters.)

From the first book Shienar is literally being over-run to the point they evacuated the women and children, and the activity in the blight has been known about for months even in backwater places. Nearly a thousand Aes Sedai, and not one can be assed to actually help out even though they have an entire Ajah dedicated to fighting the Dark One. Eh, what the hell, might as well let Shienar be wiped out like Malkier, who cares? Shit happens. The Yellows sure could be useful in this society healing people, but they're never anywhere and people would literally rather die than be healed by an Aes Sedai so I guess they just kinda hang around the Tower looking down at everyone weaker instead of doing fucking anything. The Browns are dedicated to preserving old knowledge but have forgotten how to do tons of useful stuff that our main characters just kinda do naturally on instinct. Too busy being vague and getting ink on their nose they aren't aware of, I guess. The Whites do nothing but talk about "logic". Like is this an actual joke? My head canon is that they do stuff with math and help maybe build shit, because that would mean they actually do something, but that's head canon because it's not really shown anywhere in the massive text. Moiraine is awesome and she's a Blue, disguising the fact that their mission statement is some vague nonsense about following causes. I guess at least one is worthwhile, which is a better success rate than the others. The Red actually do a useful service, but of course they're also the WoT Slytherin where half of them are literally evil. This organization really sucks tbh.

Yea most of the Aes Sedai just jerk off all day

But then you have the Green Ajah hunting down Logain

You have Elaida basically running Caemlyn (iirc, its been like 20 years)

You have Moiraine running around saving the world

Iirc most rulers had an Aes Sedai advisor bossing them around

Most of it is off screen tho

My point is that theyre shown to be extremely capable and powerful, definitely not useless

and then you go to all of the main female characters tugging their braids off to Rand/Perrin/Lan :/

Also, part of the point of the story with the White Tower is precisely that they have lost touch with the rest of the world. Between their insular practices and the influence of the black ajah, they have indeed been steadily becoming more and more useless. It's not a coincidence that most of the highly capable Aes Sedai we meet are ones that have spent large amounts of time away from the tower.
