Luckily she came to her senses and went to a real doctor and beat it. My fiancee is still wicked pissed that she gambled with her life like that and blew about $200k of her inheritance on herbs and chanting.

My great grandmother used to give medical advice that was full of old country magic nonsense of rubbing a potato in it. The only thing I've ever seen it be useful for is getting a splinter out.

She used to to tell me all sorts of crazy shit about when she was a little girl wherever the fuck she was from in eastern Europe. Like one time her town felt that a baby was too strong so it was obviously possessed by a demon. So the townsfolk kicked in the families door and killed this baby. Shit was horrifying for kid me to hear about.

Some remedies like that can work but on a much smaller scale. If you have a stomach ache you dont need to rush to the doctor and get prescriptions. Sometimes just a Ginger Ale will work. Its not medicinal but it for minor things its fine.

It was so sad. She eventually had to tell her mom she loves and supports her, but she cannot and will not listen to her go on about wholistic healing as it is enabling her bad decision. They got into a huge fight and didn't talk for a couple months until her mom finally decided to go to a real doctor.

Those people should all be put in jail, I can't think of much more disgusting than stealing from cancer patients and giving them false hope, knowing your "treatment" is absolute bullshit and robbing them of a fighting chance with real medicine.

As for the facebook group, I dont think it should be shut down because then theyd just move to some other group or website.

Facebook should take this opportunity to spread knowledge by posting this article and others regarding the dangers of anti-vaxxers on any anti-vax page that pops up on their site (so that if any parent searches for anti-vax bs, they get an article about someone dying of an easily preventable disease instead). Honestly, we should all make an effort to post these kinds of stories on those kinds of groups/sites.

I mean, everyone who used their common sense to realise "covid is probably airborne, like literally every closely related virus" and start masking up, back when the official advice was "it only spreads by droplets, unlike all its close relatives, and masks aren't needed", might've had a better outcome than listening to the scientists. But it's also debatable whether anything covid-related really counted as "established" at that point, given how early in the pandemic it was.

As bad as i feel about that, the only wya to prevent this shit from happening to others is to show when you do shit like this, you lose a child and spend time in jail to think about the fuxkin horrible thing you did to your child. I have no remorse or sympathy for these people. Well a little but they probably don't even think they dis something wrong. I'm religious but when I heard the story of some idiots praying over their not even a year old that was sick that GOD would heal them jsut for the baby to die has left me pretty damn jaded on these situations. I hoped humanity has moved on but idiots need to learn and setting examples will help at least one other child I am all for it.
