Thats dumb and disingenuous.

Don't be like that dude.

Also I dont have a problem with shooting a deer and eating it anymore than I have a problem with a lion killing an impala or some shit and eating it.

The practices in the cattle and poultry industries are abhorrent. Not denying that, but what happens to the animals if everyone stops eating meat right the second?
They'd die. No vegan is under the illusion of anything else happening, but we accept that it is the only way to end the mass suffering millions upon millions of animals go through.

And then all humans let their pet cats die to?

Or hunt rodents and birds and fish to feed their cats? Cats are obligate carnivores who need meat. Where does the meat in cat food come from in that world?

And what replaces leather? More plastic which doesn't last, is made from oil, and causes far more damage and pollution to keep creating than just using leather goods would in the first place?

There's far more to it than the average vegan wants to admit is my point.

People would die too. A vegan diet is not viable for everybody. If anything its a privilege.

There are food deserts where you can drive an hour from home and not find a single tomato. Its all cheap junk, fast food etc.

People in those areas cant switch their entire family to a vegan diet. This is the real word.

Damn you got me!

Or you know, cutting down the massive waste and animals just tossed would help regardless, even if we'd still need some level of it. Pets, in time, good enough substitutes will be available that those can potentially be used but in the mean times yes, give them meat as that's what they need. I'd feed my cat meat as a vegan if I had one, and not going to change that until the substitutes are better and vetted by more than the vegan groups pushing then.

Leather can be replaced and not just with plastic, as are several alternatives on the market. And before you go on about how vegan alternatives aren't always perfect and still do some level of harm to the environment then that's just an unfortunate reality of needing to support billions of people. Few things will be harm free but the goal is to minimise it as best we can.

Its not. As I said in my previous (now deleted post) humans had to hunt to survive and evolve. Without ever picking up stick and hunting wed still be knuckle dragging apes. Science and history support this.

Also a new story I read yesterday just happened to nail it lol

This is pretty good.

Also I agree. Responsible hunting is a great way to get meat. But I do wonder why a vegan thinks it's immoral for a human and fine for a wolf etc....

You are fully aware the big issue is the way humans do it, so why pretend otherwise? Battery farmed chickens aren't natural. Cows and sheep being bred to be how they are, killed young and the "undesirable" killed early on in their lives isn't natural. Eating meat itself might be natural, but nothing about the way modern humans consume and produce it is.

It's pretty nutty to say that there's no difference between taking animal life and plant life and claiming otherwise is hypocritical.

Overwhelmingly nutty.

Edit: Thinking there's no difference between a human and a wolf killing for food. Also nutty beyond the nut chart.

To answer the question of what will happen to the cows?, realistically the whole world isnt going to go vegan overnight. It would be a gradual shift where farms will breed fewer animals as the demand drops.

I think the Vegans main beef is with the meat industry rather than you or I hunting for food.

I actually agree that a lot of the livestock raised for food are treated absolutely abhorrently and should change, I just dont know what I can do about it.

Well, part of the problem is we are closer to herbivores and frugivores, not carnivores or omnivores. A dog is a carnivore by nature, it was designed to consume meat. A human is derived from the simian line, which eat mostly plants.

There are also numerous other biological and anatomical reasons. We have jaws that can grind and move side to side. Cats and dogs don't have that ability. Our teeth are mostly flat to grind up food, though we have a few that are sharp enough to pierce the skin of a fruit or vegetable. Our digestive system is longer than that of a carnivore or omnivore, it allows the microbes in our intestines to break down the fibers into short-chain fatty acids and other beneficial compounds and metabolites. We have enzymes in our saliva that can digest starches, omnivores and carnivores do not. Our legs are built for endurance locomotion, not short bursts of speed, because we wouldn't be able to catch something like a gazelle by running after it. Carnivore and omnivore stomach acid is much more acidic than an herbivore. And the fact that we have to cook, cure or prepare meat in a sanitized manner that is devoid of harmful microorganisms, instead of being able to eat it raw. And the only way we can make it psychologically appealing to our senses is to season it and prepare it in a way that looks like a plant (i.e. bone-in ribeye steak looks like a pear, sushi/sashimi looks like fresh fruit, etc) and our perfumes and colognes smell fruity and flowery because that is what we are attracted to, not the smell of raw meat.

Regardless of the circumstances of what role meat played and how we have survived, evolved and developed ourselves with advanced agricultural technology systems to the level where we are now, today it is no longer a necessity to eat meat. It is a luxury that is contributing to the greatest degree of damage to our health, the animals, the environment, the climate and the planet itself.

And now it plays a crucial role in our environment's destruction, providing a major potential vector for antibiotic-resistant disease, and the suffering and death of billions of sentient animals a year.

Meat was a necessary evil for humanity to get to where it is since food has historically been scarce and nutritional knowledge was limited, but for much of humanity that's not the case anymore. Instead of finding ways to decrease our meat consumption we've doubled down on it.

Whats dumb is eating animals. You have zero reason to shoot and eat a deer other than you enjoy it and feel entitled. The animals will go to sanctuaries to live out their lives and slowly start to become more domesticated to become pet or go to zoos. The population will decrease naturally since humans are the reason they increased to the state were in now.

Eating fruits, vegetables, nuts, grains, beans, seeds, tofu, seitan, etc are way cheaper than going out to buy hamburger or pizza rolls. Seitan is a meat substitute that can easily be made with cheap materials. Look that up. A vegan diet is so much easier to take on once you lose your addiction over consuming animals and educate yourself on how its important.
