So if each person has the potential of passing this along to six others and those too pass it along to another six.......

At 10 layers deep that would mean a single person could possibly be responsible for 132k infections.

I imagine US posters aren't aware of this, but the UK's political scene is dealing with a huge scandal right now that is effectively going to undermine any chance of another sensible lockdown being adhered to.

The Health Secretary, Matt Hancock, was caught on camera having an affair with his colleague. This is a married man with kids. This is the same married man with kids who has spent the last year being hardball conservative arbiter of the law by telling UK citizens that they absolutely must not flaunt lockdown rules. He went as far as to say that if your granny is dying in a hospital bed with Covid you shouldn't visit her. And then a day or two ago his balding head was caught making out with someone who is not his wife and grabbing her ass in the office.

So yeah, we're fucked. Absolutely fucked. No one is obeying lockdown restrictions after this.

People love having a negative freedumb over a making minor sacrifices like wearing a piece of cloth sometimes.

That's said I admittedly rarely wear a mask anymore as I am full vaccinated(and still wore them anyways until the mandates came down) but still will if a business requests it or I feel ill. If my area gas a large outbreak of a Variant I porhably would wear again as well.

I got a box and half of masks still.

I disagree slightly. When it hit the UK, the UK was focused more on first does rather than getting everyone vaccinated. Israel might also be using a different vaccine than the US. The US could get a high case count, but hospitalizations and deaths could still stay low due to the vaccine protection.

Oh for sure. Which just adds to how fucked we are. Really not sure how NHS will cope either this time round as so many of us are beyond burnt out from this year, if things do go as bad as they could with it.

I do hope it doesn't though, but guess we'll see.

Its so frustrating that a governmental official acting like a dickbag will make people ignore safety guidelines.

It's numerous government officials. It seems practically all of them insist we have to follow the rules and stay apart, and then they all break them, meet up and shag their mistress and take their children across the country the next day.

Doesn't excuse people saying "fuck restrictions" but I get why many feel miffed and not inclined to.
