It's extremely misleading for one.

Two literally no one does time/dates on graphs like that. It's always Left -> Right = Past -> Present -> Future.

With it reversed, anyone just casually looking is going to automatically assume that the right side is current year and thus crime rates are higher than they've been

That graph makes me actually angry. It's not even measuring violent crime but people's perceptions of whether violent crime is a problem.

its clearly marked. i mean, if you just glance at it i guess you could be misled but i'd bet its some jackass in the back making it more complicated then needed to get people to actually look at the damn thing.

Oh some jackals made it more complicated than needed but it wasn't to make people look at it harder. It was to deliberately mislead people who aren't giving that graph a deep look. Which is a lot of people when the graph isn't on the screen very long.

Your mistake is pretending that a network's perceived political slant is anything but a way for that network to make more money.

CNN's goal isn't to promote leftist (or liberal though not the same thing) ideals, it is to make money. And fear-mongoring to make people watch more news is like cable news number one.

Crime is going up though. Let's not turn into 261 where they deny crime is going up.

And if that is the case they should actually have a graph that shows that and isn't designed with misinformation in mind.

Also I would hope that Cuomo would acknowledge if/how general re-opening of the country is impacting the crime rate.

Because just claiming "violent crime is up compared to last year" without acknowledging just how weird 2020 was is at a minimum disingenuous.

But they have zero desire to even have that conversation and instead are relying on intentionally deceptive graphs that don't even support the point they are making.
