Is it actually Superman doing shit or 40 minutes of crappy relationship drama like Smallville?

I never watched Smallville, so Im not sure how similar they are.

Theres been virtually no relationship drama between Clark and Lois.

There has been some family development stuff, but its really well done.

This. This is pretty much the only show I can say where I actually like the family development plots more than the action-y plots. That's not to say the action is bad. It's great (amazing actually). But the family dynamic is that good.

The issues they deal with are realistic for a family with a superhero as the patriarch. Clark and Lois' relationship is very strong and you can tell they are a seasoned couple that has passed the initial hump. Even when they disagree with each other, you can tell it's momentary and they reconcile like immediately afterwards. None of this forced drama like other Arrowverse shows.

The teenagers also seem to act how a teenager would act in their shoes. Jordan was a bit annoying at first, but it fit within his character (he suffers from anxiety and takes meds for it), but as he started to develop as a character (and his powers), he has become much more level-headed. And Jonathan has been great all around. He really is a great kid.

Long story short, it's a well-done Superman show that really shows us what Superman (both the character and the IP) is all about. Superman is the most powerful being around yet he still faces regular human problems. And yet you still get really cool fight scenes that are almost movie quality.
