One shot at least gives you some protection, but I'm not sure what you'd be worried about from a second dose that you wouldn't be worried about from the first.

Theres some newer evidence that if you've had covid, then 1 shot may be enough for even the 2-shot vaccines, but tbh I wouldn't rely on that until theres bigger studies showing that. Theres virtually no harm in getting the second shot other than feeling slightly bad for the next 36 hours.

I don't get why everyones trying to cut corners on something that is potentially life saving with almost no harm.

One Pfizer is better than one JnJ is one of the points people are talking about. If JnJ is even an option then shouldn't we be hastening to get everyone one?

It's a bullshit muddying the waters stance. If 70% of the country got two and another 10% got one we'd be done with this already.

One dose of JnJ is a lot worse than 2 doses of the others, but a 2nd dose of that one doesnt do much so it is considered a one dose shot. Moderna and Pfizer werent made 2 dose shots because the first dose didnt do much, but because a 2nd dose was a major improvement over 1.

Having a thousand people with two doses would be worse than 2000 with 1 dose.

Because they don't believe that the "potentially life threatening" is potentially life threatening. Some don't even think it's a legitimate thing.

No it does not. One does is around 30% effectiveness. Two does brings it up to 95% or whatever they state it is. One does is no where near enough.

Back when the vaccines were developed it absolutely was true. The delta variant does result in a weaker immune response and your chances of getting Covid have increased at both 1 and 2 doses, so yes one shot is probably no longer good enough for preventing infections. Severe illness is greatly reduced still with only 1 shot though and there isnt much difference between 1 or 2 doses there.
