I dont think this is confirmation or anything, he probably just doesnt realize it is more of a spiritual successor than a traditional sequel. But, still...tantalizing...

The combat looked exactly like Dark Souls. Every FPS is Call of Duty logic. But....shut up

If the combat is faster than DS3 can they please make it so bosses don't break lock on with their moves?

He probably wrote himself into a corner, plus with the TV series bombing and all eyes back on the book series for redemption...well let's just say with every possible fan theory out there, it's unlikely he would put out anything that someone hadn't already thought of already. It's doomed to be underwhelming and he has spent decades on the world. With his recent success, he probably just wants to live out the rest of his years in leisure and other pet projects. Game of thrones is dead.

He'd write up a 10 page backstory of his character in just 2 minutes because it's actually new and fun for him compared to going back to GoT that he's just forcing on himself.

I have a vision of an armored crusader plunging his sword into the top-skull of a mighty dragon, and then riding it around, controlling the magnificent beast as if it were all just a game to him and the sword were as if a joystick linking them two as one. As they soar & fly, he twists & tilts & turns the lever of his hilt in its head on his hands, straddling the now-complacent god of the sky. The sun to their backs, tail in the wind, and the sea glistens in the dark of their eyes, together they fly. They fly. Reminiscent of Shadow of the Colossus?

That's surprising. I got the feeling GRRM gave D&D a rough draft of how he planned to end it, but they screwed it up so badly he now has to come up with something new for the novels.

GRRMs dilemma in the novels was how to get all his characters back together at the right place and time for the final book without it looking contrived considering they are scattered all over his world. D&D made his job harder because he has to come up with a different ending on top of that.

I was listening to a lecture by theoretical physicist Sabine Hossenfelder. She felt that modern theoretical physics was too preoccupied with looking for "beautiful" answers. She believed a lot of workable theories for long standing problems that fit the observations were rejected by the community because they were too complex and messy. Instead they would rather prop up "beautiful" simple models even if they introduce new unobserved particles.

It should be mentioned she prefers modified gravity models (MOND) over theoretical dark matter particles (WIMPs and MACHOs). She also thinks Many-Worlds and the Multiverse theories are religion for scientists.

Then it never should have existed in the first place. You don't start an epic story and never finish it

I do it all the time. Actually, I have a real tendency to ignore everything past the first season of almost anything lol

So you never see any final battles? That sounds boring

Come now

Plenty of good stuff out there with a good final battle at the end of the first season. Theres plenty of manga actually (and anime) that I only really like one strong season or so in the middle. DBZ for example. Namik or nothing for me

@Zikten
Zikten posted...
That might work for anime but it doesn't always work very often for something like an epic fantasy book series. Usually there is no full conclusion in the plot til the end of the last book
I only really like approximately one season of GoT tbh.
