Samurai just seems more overwhelming because it dumps a bunch of moves on you with the class starting at 50.

Itll help a lot that youre being eased into Ninja by leveling it first because ninja gets busy at later levels.

I've never felt the need to quest with anyone, it's EZPZ, you'll be overleveled for the most part, and for dungeons you just get grouped into a party with other players.

I forget what ilvl crafted gear is, but the best gear for 50/60/70 is poetics gear which you can get in more dhona at 50. Dungeon drops in dungeons 53+ will be an upgrade but you don't need to grind for them, just take what you get.

You may need to finish ARR, I'm not sure when that unlocks. But as long as you are still on level 50 content crafted is perfectly fine.

ffxiv is very, very guilty of padding. and that's an issue in a sub-based game. like an ethical issue. like how they sell you extra inventory space while not letting you turn off auto-loot.

you start to realize that every npc has three boxes worth of dialogue and that they are placed predictably distant from any means to truncate time. the design to weight time and exp against a monthly cost pokes through the mesh.

i have a whole lot to say about ffxiv because i really want to like it, and i think it could maybe grow from its roots as a very rigid and very mmorpg-maker style game where a lot of the class design is copy+paste and placeholder; 20% mitigation for 20 seconds on all the tank classes, 30% mitigation for 15 seconds on all the tank classes with just slightly different features and names. yeah, there's some amateur shit going on. really pretty game though.

no, it's not. maybe try to learn to identify pressures; i never said i was overwhelmed by it or that i couldn't accommodate. the issue is that i have to. and that there's a price point on a means to make it so i don't have to as often. fucking think man!

but also think about what this implies, all the neurotic micro-managing you've had to do. because they never gave you the chance to skip it. you may have maxed inventory space, but it's only because you've kept on top of a system you never opted into. that is my issue.

i'm not a hoarder. i'm lazy. i would leave that shit on the ground if the game gave me the choice, but it doesn't, because that would alleviate a time cost. a lot of their choices are informed by that, and it is apparent, and it makes the game feel chintzy to me. thank you for getting me going. i might go ham on 40-second taunts next. like what the fuck, way to write yourself out of interesting damage.

Having a big ass company chest to share duplicates of minions, songs, crafting materials etc. is a big bonus. Maybe it's different in Japan, but even though we rarely run content together everyone shares a lot of stuff. We also have a company house which lets you get a room for a lot less trouble than getting your own house.

yeah probably tbh, for most FCs in the west its just a rotation of whatever exp buff they wanna put up for the day and thats it unless you get into an actual good FC (which most people wont)

I've never been in an fc with more than like 8 active players. We almost exclusively use the buff to extend food duration. Sometimes the one to reduce gear wear, 10% exp buff, or weakness reducer when raiding. Other FCs use reduced teleport rates because for some reason they don't use aetheryte tickets.

uh yeah of course leveling is "harder" on subsequent jobs, they literally boosted the exp gains from quests by x2 to make sure ppl playing the first time thru dont get stuck having to actually level like we had to when doing expacs when they were current

it was like from either 46 or 47 to 50 for the final msq quest in base ARR and you literally had to FATE grind it back then

You're mistaken, i'm talking about the MSQ content between 2.0 and 3.0. MSQ quests took a nosedive in exp given so you're basically given nothing at all.

As I said, I "get it" as to the why, but it still whiplashy from getting hundereds of thousands of exp per quest to like 10k.
