I mean you could show a sparsely furnished or messy cramped/shared office but that'd be difficult to shoot in, and wouldn't be very nice to look at.

But if the show's subject matter is literally academic jobs, you'd think they'd want it to be somewhat accurate?

I can understand a shot or two in a show unrelated, but this show's narrative is directly related.

Gives people the wrong impression about academic jobs, tbh.

I can understand a shot or two in a show unrelated, but this show's narrative is directly related.

Gives people the wrong impression about academic jobs, tbh.

That seems to just be American shows in general. Everything is glamorised and made to look perfect, no matter the reality. Obviously plenty of shows that don't do this, but it seems very common that a very fake image is presented in American media.

Also what doom said. Sometimes just nicer/larger looking places are better.

see, you think you get a nice office and being a TV professor is great. but do you know how hard it is to make every lesson plan relevant to the protagonist's personal narrative at just the right time? that's why they make the big money and have the corner office, COVxy

That's not too different to the professor's offices I've been in

A bit more opulent than irl, but otherwise pretty accurate

Also, they're probably referring to European style heads of research groups, rather than American-style glorified lecturers

Tbh, not a lot of crime scene labs look that extravagant. I mean, CSI's original space was like a square room with foldable tables, some bottles scattered on them, and then one or two pieces of standard lab equipment.

I feel like bench science is easy to make look appealing because that's how these set ups usually look.

Most people don't realize that (most) professors run their cutting edge research labs and teach their classes for like 60k a year, in craphole facilities. There's an assumption of opulence, and things like this are why.
