Coworker told me he went once for work and said it was fucking awesome. Raved about the food and the culture and how you can basically get a little authentic taste of every asian culture there. And basically everything is English too.

It looks pretty sweet. Flights obviously way expensive but it looks like a great place to visit someday.

Made this topic before but it purged before I even saw the responses or continued any comments

I was there in 1995 and it was really nice. I don't like Asian food, so I can't comment on that aspect. But there were plenty of food options for my picky palate; public transportation was plentiful; and the city was beautiful.

I'm not sure I'd ever visit. They have some pretty draconian laws.

Yep, very cool place. Alcohol is fucking expensive though, when I went in... 2010 I think it was, a 500ml draft beer was the equivalent of about $13USD.

No partying at night without government approval. Homosexuality is illegal. Drug use is punishable by death. You can get fined for being naked in your own house. Plus other ridiculous stuff. I've met a few people from Singapore who did not paint a very nice picture of it for me. Granted, they could've been biased, but it's definitely not at the top of my vacation list.

Eh wouldn't be a bother to me because if I were to go I wouldn't really be partying, not my scene

Homosexuality is illegal.
Damn that's fucked up

Also fucked up

Also fucked up although we'd be in a hotel so theoretically not a problem unless they have cameras in the rooms.

Overall very ridiculous. Sounds like a great place to visit but not so great place to live, that's kinda my takeaway from those laws.

Homosexuality ban aside, it sounds right up my alley. A place focused on being quiet and clean? Sign me the fuck up.
