I think the most widely accepted belief is that he did, but that ending scene with him running was a hallucination. With some of the murders we see earlier also being hallucinations.

Yeah I don't think there's a clear cut answer or any sort of giveaways as to what parts are real vs. hallucinations, but I agree with the theory that he did kill some people, but others were in his head. Mostly the ending rampage.

I read the book hoping for this answer but it's written in first-person (from Bateman's POV) so you have no idea what is and isn't real
