we recognized that circuses were dangerous for the animals and we had better ways to entertain ourselves so we got rid of them. we should realize that cruise ships are dangerous for the environment and we have better ways to vacation so we should get rid of them.

The better ways to entertain ourselves were TV, video games, and the internet, especially the latter two.

What is the better way to vacation? Teleportation?

If theres a demand for the service, I dont see any reason to get rid of it. I would prefer to be as far away from sharks as possible, so its not for me, but I dont see the harm (unless youre trying to swim).

I'd rather see a restructuring of their energy expenditure because they're one of the largest producers of pollution in the world.

it's ai easy to get sick on a cruise because its so unsanitary, and they do create a lot of waste.

I have always wanted to go once in my life, but now I'm not so sure it it's worth the trade off.

We need to take very aggressive steps to cut down on polluting the ocean. Pollution, overfishing, culling, etc. Sorry, but if your profession is causing extinction and endangerment of species, then find a new profession.

Some of the worst offenders are Japan, South America, and China. Not to mention the United States floating trash piles that are the size of a state.

While ocean pollution is still significant, it's actually air pollution that cruises emit more than any other. Depending on the size, a single Carnival liner's sulfur dioxide emissions are equal to 1 to 3 and a half million cars.

Drop in the bucket for environmental standards. You pull a couple dozen cruise ships off the water, while hundreds of thousands of other ships out there the same size are letting out just as much, or more emissions. They won't just dock the cruise ships either, they will sell them off to companies that can turn them into cargo or other functioning ships and they stay on the water anyway.

I wonder what the viability would be of buying a retired cruise ship and turning it into an independent floating city-state...
