He should have just stayed at Sega overseeing Sonic games, because he's done nothing notable since leaving at all. Actually, Rodea the Sky Soldier was alright, but only the Wii version; the Wii U and 3DS versions were trash. The game was originally supposed to come out in 2011 for the Wii and finished development that year, but for some reason, the game's publisher kept pushing it back; eventually, it only came out in 2015 and the original Wii version was bundled with just a few copies of the grossly inferior Wii U version.

Maybe if it came out in 2011 for the Wii as planned, Naka's company Prope would have still been around and made more successful games.

It's such a weird development cycle. Seeing the actual story from the novel described on Youtube, if that had been in the game and they hadn't relied on eighty fucking gimmick costumes, it might have been able to be a classic instead of a flop.

I've mentioned several times that the costumes and keys mechanic strongly suggests that Balan began as a freemium mobile game.
