Until you go to her place for dinner one day and are confused as to why she's set out 5 seats.

"Well for my housemates silly. One for me, one for you, one for Fluffers, one for Sarah and one for Litt-.... Hey where are you going? Oh... Don't be like that... Fine then!" she says to no one in particular.

"It seems Sarah won't be joining us. She's just jealous because she thinks you're cute and she's mad I got to you first.... Oh you are too Sarah!.... Oh well, at least Fluffers and Little Joe are still here. You'll like them, they're lovely."

She had imaginary friends when she was a kid except that when her brain started developing towards adulthood growing up, instead of dropping these imaginary friends, her imagination just starting developing as well. Making them more complex and ever omi-present friends with distinct personalities.

And she's been doing it every day for so long that it comes naturally to her. It's nothing something she has to think about or put effort into.

Only for her to pull an Uno reverse card and reveal she was the real one and she imagined him. Imagined him to think he was real and imagined her.... for some reason.. Then she makes him vanish.
