This isn't as farfetched as you may think. If the horse wasn't restrained to the carriage it would have started bucking and running. The rider could have been thrown from it and someone else could have gotten kicked or slammed into and getting kicked can definitely kill someone.

I don't like the idea of horse drawn carriages in this type of setting, like the ones you see in NYC all over, most of those horses are mistreated and worked to death by the owners.

And if that's not rural enough for you, they could be in the middle of no where and it wouldn't change the fact that if the owner just let the horse go it could very well kick somebody's head off because there's people all around it trying to prevent a pitbull from attacking it.

Horses are fine walking with a carriage, they can weigh over a ton. They're stronger than you think, and often need the mental stimulation that training and working provides.

Dog died from it's injuries apparently. It didn't "tank" anything on it's own as the bloodlust and flow of adrenaline it had was what kept it from falling over in pain earlier from the extent of it's injuries.

Training doesn't matter when it comes to a pit going feral. When it happens there isn't much you can do besides trying to pull it away from the situation and other abusive ways, which I don't advocate, to get it to stop.

I think the issue with pitbulls is they tend to snap. They can be the sweetest dog, the kind of dog you see in videos snoozing with babies and wearing onesies. And one day, for some random (to you, not for the dog) trigger they go full cerberus on something or someone.

Look up the most aggressive dog breed. It's a Chihuahua. Why? They are almost never trained. THATS the difference.

dogs do have specific tendencies though. Chihuahuas are by far the most psychotic, angry dogs. If chihuahuas had the size of a pitbull they'd probably be considered wild animals.

A labrador or Maltese that hasn't been properly trained but has been given love and treated well its entire life has a far smaller chance (almost neglible) of going full pitbull at a horse or a human than well, a pitbull.

Exactly. They can be as kind as any other socialized dog when docile, but when they snap, which is unpredictable, they become incredibly dangerous as anything that gets bit gets locked in it's jaws, shredded and even severed, and more often than not, it's not going to let go easily further compounding the damage. These dogs are born killers and are equipped to do so, and for that they should never be trusted.

Pits are fighting dogs with a natural tendency toward aggression. I don't know why other breeds can have innate behaviors that you don't have to train them to do (corgis will try to herd you, retrievers will... retrieve) and it's accepted that they are naturally like this, yet only pitbulls are completely blank slates and only evil people can make them bad.

Not all pits are vicious, but they are naturally more aggressive and deadlier when they do attack. There are countless videos and stories online of the sweetest nanny dogs ever suddenly getting triggered and attacking.

This. Pitbull ball lickers pretend they are the sweetest breeds ever.
They pretend there are studies that prove this but just share personal experiences with pitbulls.
But they completely ignore that pitbulls were bred specifically to fight. They also ignore the fatal attacks by pitbull that far outnumber other dog breeds.

yeah. And part of the issue is they get triggered by things we don't understand. I read a story about one of those pitbulls who were super sweet but one day a guy with a baseball hat came to deliver a package and the combination of the way the guy rang the bell several times fairly quick and his hat (which the dog could see through the glass door) triggered him and he turned on its owner and bit her really bad.

We'd think we have no idea why the dog did it, but a behavior specialist figured it out after due analysis. For all we know the pitbull in OP didn't like the noise around him and then he went berzek

The difference is when a cat gets violent you end up with a few annoying scratches on your forearm.

I don't really have a stake in this discussion but I think people should be honest about what they're talking about here. Pitbulls aren't often violent, but when they are, it's so much worse than other dog breeds.
