No time for writeups, but a few notes:
-today features two tracks that debuted in VGMC1, which is kinda neat; of course, after their VGMC1 appearance, their history diverges considerably-- this is Chrono Trigger's second appearance in VGMC, and The Best Is Yet To Come's fifteenth
-I feel like if I tried to map how I felt about TBIYTC and RftM over time, it'd be a pretty strange graph; right now TBIYTC is at 'marginally positive' and has an edge on RftM
-There's a couple of moments in Rising Up that I'm quite fond of, including the feel of the intro but even moreso the reprise of the intro at 3:03 with the different accompaniment

MATCH 1

I definitely prefer Return to Oblivion over A Long Fall. Really cool song throughout, but my favorite part's the intro prefer the percussion kicks in. It just sounds really pretty with the vocals and strings. 1:45-2:15 is also pretty cool.

Subterranean starts off decently enough, but I'm not a fan of that lead instrument at 0:53. Regardless, Return to Oblivion is more my thing anyway.

MATCH 2

Dienos Advento is super cool! Honestly better than anything I've heard from SFA's Granado Espada music. Fast-paced metal songs like this are probably the most natural me-FL81 overlap I can think of. My only complaint is the diminished chord at 0:47. I know that tritones are fairly common in metal songs, but it sounds out of place to me here. Like in my mind, I don't feel like I want that much dissonance here.

My opinion on The Best Is Yet To Come hasn't changed very much since I started participating. I like it, but not that much. It's pleasant enough to listen to, but not something I'd want to purposefully seek out.

MATCH 3

To Faraway Times is my favorite Chrono Trigger song and my favorite example of the main theme's motif being used, but the main theme is one of the better songs using this motif that I've heard. 1:15 is definitely my favorite part. I really like how all the instruments come together and create this light, floaty sound.

Rising Up is also a nice song. The singer could be better, in my opinion, but the vocals aren't bad or anything. Pretty close match, but I'm feeling Chrono Trigger (song) more.
