I've been dealing with mold, he's been staying with my parents. He had a mini stroke in the past and I called my dad and told him how he was acting and he was better in 20 minutes. This time my dad called me and said that he was acting how I said he was that other time. I told him to tell me if he bounced back like last time but he didn't so I rushed over.

My plan was to sit with him all night. He sat with my hand wrapped around him and his head nuzzled under my chin and against my neck. He wanted to go back in the cage so I helped him in and he ate a feast. He then climbed up and put himself to bed in the sleeping hut. I thought he was doing a bit better so I covered him, said night night, made sure he said it back and he did, and then I went to bed. This morning after calling to get him into the vet I uncovered him and found him half hanging out of his hut and I knew. I grabbed him and he was cold. I held him all the way to the vet and then handed him over. He's going to be missed, I've had him since he was a baby bird with hardly any feather and couldn't fly or chirp yet, he was almost 8. He liked cuddles and stealing food and yelling my name as he pleased.

Ya all he wanted was to be held by people he loved yesterday, he would always fight being held around him completely but that's what he wanted yesterday, no fighting, just big cuddles. I made sure to never clip his wings because I thought he should be able to fly freely, he's a bird after all, it just means watching him closely.

No no, the pictures of him deceased are only being kept for myself. The picture I posted was a picture of him in his prime.

Thanks, he was a happy bird. He had health problems but I always made sure to get him help no matter the cost. A lot of people I know hesitate about paying large pet bills and I think why'd you get the pet if you are unwilling to deal helping it when it's sick.

I told myself if Birdy died every I would not get another parrot until later in life. I want a child at some point and small fingers and large, powerful, sharp beaks don't mesh well with kids. And pets cost a lot right now and are hard to find since everyone is getting a quarantine pet which hopefully they don't neglect or abandon when quarantine is over.

A cockatiel should be feasible - they're not really capable of particularly serious bites, and are more likely to retreat than attack if they have the option (and aren't cornered in their cage or something like that). And they're cuddly as hell.

They do tend to have longer lifespans than most small parrots though (15 to 20 years on average, with 36 being the world record), so keep that in mind.

Thank you. Since he was just the one lovebird he was very loving to all the humans who have lived with him, couldn't leave the room without being called back in. I made sure he felt loved and especially last night when he was not feelings well, I said fuck it to the hotel I booked to go be with him.

Yup, I get mad when I see people abandon, neglect, or refuse to pay for their treatment. You take care of them until either one of you dies. So many people are going to either start neglecting or abandon their pets once things are back to normal with no more lockdowns.

Ya the vet had a cockatiel that would sit out front for everyone to scratch but a couple years ago they moved him to the back. I guess he started getting sick and he passed away in September. Really friendly. But every bird has a different personality can't guarantee they are safe around little fingers that don't know they are bothering the bird. That and Birdy was a lovebird and could bite pretty darn hard, I still have a mark. And I won't be ready for a bit. Next bird I wanted would be a bigger parrot so I might just wait until the day I can get one.

I lost the same type of bird a few years back and it still hurts me to this day cause he was my buddy and he would always be so excited when I got home from work. He use to sit on my shoulder and play in my hair and I would sing for him.

I'm sorry you lost your buddy.

He's been on heart medication for a while but in April we took him in and they said his heart was doing great and the doses where fine. There may have been an accident where my dad was giving him half of on of his medications but we're not 100% sure but I don't blame him for it either way. I've had a rough week, and it still going to be rough regardless of this, but it didn't help at all, worst time for it to happen.

He liked to sit on my dad and my boyfriend's shoulders when they cooked. He loved showers under the tap. He liked to clean your hair for you and trim your nails. He loved noodles and chicken and hoping down your arm to try to take your food, we'd give him his own plate sometimes with his own bird friendly food. I'm going to miss him a lot. I'm not going to hear him chirp when I get home, or go to the bathroom, or to chat. It's going to be so quiet.

I really miss him right now a lot guys, it's hard, I'm alone right now in a strange place. I have to deal with all the mold issues and all my health issues and this way just what pushed stuff over for me. I'm so done with people and the things going on. And my OCD is flared up so badly and some depression, and I'm going to call my doctor in the morning. Sucks to be crying here alone and to be without him, I had him since he was a baby, he was my permanent toddler. I didn't think it would be happening this soon, he was doing well as he could be for his conditions. I just hate this week.

Sorry Flawless. RIP.

This board doesn't have lot of sympathy for animal lovers. I think since so many of the users here struggle to take care of themselves the idea of taking care of someone else is totally beyond them.

Hope you aren't too sad. Losing a pet is hard no matter what animal.

They seem to be doing pretty well to me.
I am pretty sad, with everything else going on I'm just overloaded, I'd be sad normally if he died but everything else made it a bit worse. I'm pretty depressed about it right now. I tried to call my doctor today but she's not in the office today, I got an appointment friday but they sent her a message to see if she'll call me earlier. It's not just being sad about my bird, I'm burnt out from the other stuff, and stressed about it and the money I'm paying not to be in the condo, the time away from my boyfriend, and my OCD is flaring up.
