Since Michael's mask magically changes between the 4th and 5th movies (even though part 5 continues seamlessly where 4 left off), I like the fan theory that Michael's mask in part 4 is how his niece perceives him, since she's young and innocent and doesn't understand "pure evil" yet.

Once she attacks her stepmom at the end of the movie, and temporarily becomes corrupted by the Shape, her innocence is lost and that's why she sees Michael's "true face" in part 5, hence the different mask.

The amount of variation and awful quality in those movies when it comes to the different masks astonishes me. I don't get how they fuck it up in like every single one after the first. 1, 2 and 2018 are all good, but every other one sucks. Either the eye holes are too big destroying the mystique, or his eyebrows are too pronounced which just makes him look like a chola, or the hair looks like shit. It's just always something.

Especially since the original was just a Captain Kirk mask that they modified by teasing out sideburns, spray-painting it, etc.

Like, the template is right there. Just buy another Shatner mask and modify it the same way. >_>
