I really hated the burnout guy and the main character too. And they all took way too long to figure out things that I, an idiot who has never done an escape room in his life, figured out well before.

tbh, the premise of a horror movie using an escape room as a premise and a prop could be amazing, but I didn't think it was handled too well in the original since the perils the characters faced went way beyond the bonds of plausibility.

if there was something, but more stripped down, I think that would have the potential to be really good.
