Later in the seasons they become meh. Like TBBT I loved the begging of the series with the first few seasons. But i stopped watching it after the last few seasons.

  • The original concept runs its course, but the show is still too profitable for the network to just end.
  • The writers run out of ideas.
  • The characters are flanderized, turning them into shells of their former selves.
  • The writing staff changes, including the original writers and those who were around during the golden years.

Cuz writers run out of ideas or the studio forces the show to keep going when it clearly wasn't meant to go on that long (ie: Scrubs, That 70s Show)

Creative energy. It takes the audience half an hour to watch a TV show, two hours to watch a movie. For the people who work on these things, you're looking at weeks and months; sometimes years if a series goes long enough. It's hard to keep that magic alive.

Things need to proceed. Sitcoms always like to revert to the status quo, and suffer because of it. It works for 2-4 seasons but after that it becomes stale.

Simpsons for example-
If they did the simple thing of aging the characters a lil bit every now and then, the series would be fresh and there would be new challenges. Bart and Lisa in Middle school, then high school, then college, the kids? Circumstances would change fir the entire family not just Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. they did just about everything they could with them being in elementary.
