Sadly my entrees didn't get too far, save Tony, so happy with how I did on that end at least and got Wrex and Gandalf to the very ends, even if not the champion spot.

I think the voting rules were pretty good this time. Not much you can do about rounds going very fast as happened at the end as just what happens sometimes.

Most of all, I wanted Gandalf, Galadriel, Tony, Corrado and Mr. Burns to do good, and two of them got in the top 10, so I'm happy, although I would've liked Corrado and Mr. Burns to do better.
The new vote trading rules are fine imo.

I'm very surprised Granny did well, but then again Looney characters usually get pretty far.

Wish Gen and Pai Mei did better.

Genuinely surprised Uncle Phil didn't take the win there but hey good game. I wanted Toph to make it to top 4 but top 10 at 8th place isn't bad at all.

Sophia best golden girl, out too early, heh. Orlandeau also out too early. A couple I liked or nominated were out even earlier but I didn't expect to do that well anyway.

Iroh in 14th hurts. Shoulda lasted longer. A lot of big hits near the end.

For lasted too long, well I don't care about Dracula so him and Abe made it unusually high. And Galadrial's fine but 6th fine? Eh. But even if not my favorites, the top had a lot of characters I at least liked. Some of these topics end up with a ton of characters I know nothing about but not as many here, especially later on.

That's how it is for me, I know nothing about stuff like Final Fantasy, Mass Effect, anime or even marvel stuff.
For me it's usually LOTR, and characters from shows that I like.

Yeah, he was the one of my nominees that I really thought would do better.

Gandalf did the best of my guys, but I can't be too disappointed that he lost to another great Ian McKellen performance. As up & down as the X-Men movies were as a series, they had some great casting-- he & Patrick Stewart were both perfect choices for their roles.

Oh, and I definitely liked the restrictions on vote trading. I think that made this contest run a lot smoother overall.

I agree with the restrictions on trading. Made it more interesting. Obviously, as my nomination I wish uncle Phil would have won, but I can't begrudge him losing to Gandalf and Magneto. I wish Iroh would have made it to the top 10 at least, and Uncle made it to the top 25 which was a pleasant surprise.

Also, was Gandalf my nomination Kaja? I genuinely can't remember; a lot of my favs including Iroh were nominated by someone else before I got to them.

Another win for one of my nominees! Woohoo! If only it had been Wrex...

Plus, I think I might have had a record here-- 4 of the top 6 were people I nominated (Magneto, Wrex, Obi-Wan, & Galadriel) and I'm particularly pleased to see how well the Lady of Lorien did.

Also, I definitely enjoyed seeing the Elders get some love for once. So much media is dominated by teenagers & people in their 20s (especially RPGs & anime), so it was nice to see more variety of cool old dudes & ladies.

I think I liked the vote trading restrictions overall. It might need a tiny bit of tweaking, but not letting it happen until we get to 3 or 4 votes is a good idea. And it certainly was a lot more subdued than some previous contests where it occasionally got out of hand.

Problem is no one knows who they are. The top 20 would be characters from the movies, followed by book-only characters, then the silmarillion. Wouldn't be very interesting to start off with tbh.

Yeah I would only vote in the last 30 rounds or so. I love The Silmarillion, but it's got a ton of characters I wouldn't even recognize. Take the Valar, I could name 3, maybe 4, and there's like what, 20 of them? And that's just the godlike beings, not even counting the Elves or Men.
Even a goddamn Balrog got a name.
Tolkien created such a rich world, it's crazy.

I would like to do another Couple ST in the future.

As for bringing back an eliminated character, it is something I have thought about doing in the past, but I don't know if it's something others would be excited for.
