I would sell it off. Frankly those cards would bring a collector a lot more happiness than they would bring me. And clearly that money would be a huge boon to my wealth.

I can't imagine the thought process behind someone willing to sell their fathers beloved possessions like that. I wonder if his father knew his children are greedy pieces of shit.

maybe keep a few extra special ones for sentimental value, but sell the majority. At least that's what I would prefer to happen with my stuff when I'm gone.

Depends on if it's something I'm interested in personally, the size of the collection (as in physical size), my abilities to store it correctly, and how much I could use the money.
In this hypothetical I would definitely sell and perhaps donate a good chunk (25ish %) to a charity that they would have supported, and spread some around to other family that might need it (assuming they didn't also get big inheritances). The cards would better be in the home of someone who would enjoy them and could properly store them. --- We all ate the biscuits, Fighter. We can all see through time. [ER] ... Copied to Clipboard!

This is something meant to be sold off if the inheritor has zero interest in it. There's no way someone collects that much that long and expects that his family is just going to make rooms dedicated to baseball cards if they hadn't been heavily involved in it. What'd be shitty is auctioning off your parents awards, purple hearts, long term family heirlooms, etc the second the die. These are something only to be kept if you actually feel a direct bond through the cards to your parent.

Hard to say. If I really cared about the person giving them to me and he (obviously) really cared about baseball cards Id probably think of them as his mementos.
That said, I wouldnt hold it against my children if they sold them when Im gone, as they probably wouldnt have the same attachment. ... Copied to Clipboard!
