I have a Series X myself, but basically the only physical games I've gotten in recent years have been gifts.

I legit don't think I have ever used the disk drive on my Xbox One X in the 4-5 years i've owned it. Some people do nothing with physical and don't need a drive.

It's been nearly 20 years since I owned a physical copy of any PC game (and about 4 years since I even owned a PC with a disc drive). On PS3, a few of the games I got really early during my time owning the system are physical, but most are digital. Literally every game I own on PS4 is digital.

Given that track record, I'm not exactly inclined to see a lack of a disc drive as a major issue.

I just plain don't buy physical games anymore, and haven't for several years now. Any games I had on disc that I still want to play I've already repurchased when I see them on sale (I rarely pay more than $10 to repurchase a game). I still plan to buy a Series X for the specs, but if they had a discless version for cheaper I would get that instead.

disc gaming is irrelevant nowadays. Either way you have to install games and download updates, if your internet is absolute dogshit or capped sure, but digital saves gas and time waiting for gamestop to open or amazon to deliver

Because they don't understand the difference between actually purchasing and owning a game vs purchasing a license to play the game that's only valid as long as they have an active account and available servers.

You only own a licence when you buy a physical copy too. It's just much harder for them to enforce revoking it.

Or maybe we full on understand this fact and don't give a shit. I buy a game, I play it, i'm done with it. I don't care if I don't "own" it in 10 years because I will never go back to it ever again. I'm not cheap and possessive that I need to have the comfort of knowing it's mine forever. If I buy a game for $10 on sale and in 10 years they pull it from the store and I can't download it ever again, I literally don't care at all. I'm not playing it again regardless.

May as well download digital games too.

Yeah I got mine used and I haven't played anything physical except the games it came with and bl3 since it was way cheaper at Walmart than online. Like 3 times cheaper.
