In fact, the origin story says that God was angry that humans had immortal bodies and had seized the forbidden knowledge of good and evil. That knowledge and body was too much, too dangerous. So God robbed us of our immortality.

That makes YHVH no more than a tyrant, robbing us of the means with which to overthrow him.

Jesus wanted us to find God and be free of Sin. If people actually become free of Sin, that's great, but that doesn't mean Jesus died for nothing; He died so we could have the opportunity of overcoming our Sin.

they knew the difference between right and wrong because god explicitly told them not to eat from one specific tree

but that's using a literalist interpretation of adam and eve. many think the story is just metaphorical of the way sin separates us from god
