I never play a video game without subs on, but for movies I find them distracting I guess. Not only was the scene utterly gratuitous and didn't fit anything the move had had previously, but I couldn't hear a fucking thing other than explosions. But at this point I'm kind of expecting garbage soundmixing from Nolan movies that have a bigger scope than just the relatively personal character drama of The Prestige. Inception and Interstellar both have these issues.
