I think the way Death Stranding was hyped up was rather dumb but the concept of leaving behind structures and items to make traversing the world easier for other players for likes is pretty damn genius. Basically an evolution on those messages you find in Dark Souls.

I haven't finished Death Stranding so I have no idea how elaborate it gets but I can imagine this concept eventually leading to a game starting off as a post-apocalyptic wasteland and gradually being built up with highways that link to settlements and rest stops that is designed by an online community.

hideo kojima has been at the helm of a large amount of extremely well loved games, he generally has good video game ideas no matter how much fanfiction butthurt people like to write about him

I pray god will curse the writer, as the writer has cursed the world with this beautiful, stupendous creation, terrible in its simplicity, irresistible in truth

the only decent part about the game, as far as mechanics go, IMO.

overall, the game is terrible.

The more I think about Death Stranding as a concept, the more I realize how misunderstood Lordjima is accepted from a non-meme perspective. That the game is more than just good and evil and all that sort of thought provoking jazz.

He really is a brilliant mind.

I ruv you Kojima-san

I think the way you have to balance cargo and making your way through the terrain is impressive too but I totally get why it wouldn't appeal to everyone. Really reminds me of trying to find the best way to climb the mountain in BOTW but even more complicated.

If people enjoy stuff like Shadow of the Colossus & L.A. Noir....

.... then they can enjoy Death Stranding and it be valid.

Hes a talented dev without a doubt but his writing is a God damn mess. I said to myself I was done with kojima games after mgs4 and over 10 years later I decided to give his games a chance and played through death stranding and the same issues he had with mgs4 popped up in death stranding.

He needs a editor to reel him in the gameplay should never be secondary to the story. you should not encounter walking to point a to point b to watch a cut scene and have that process repeat for example its ridiculous. I'm not going to get into much detail but I did not enjoy deathstranding for a variety of reasons and if your not into kojima style games stay the hell away from his other games.

He really did peak at mgs3.

My biggest issue with the writing in Death Stranding so far is that it's really up its ass with wordplay and puns but totally playing it straight. Do we really need to have a bunch of cities called Knot.

The part when it says like you need to unite us again when looking at a US poster was a bit much lol

tbh, to try to make the game more interesting, I mostly avoided using roads and stuff, and just walked from destination to destination.

the forced BT encounters and unending Timefall sections made that more annoying, though.

I'm not sure how I forgot to mention pee, poop, shower water and blood grenades.

Tbh yeah the enemies seem half-baked compared to everything else.
