The movie tries to set an awkward tone where bizarre happenings take place and everyone is too polite to notice. On IMDb, it shares a parsley 3.9/10 rating with Batman & Robin.

What's truly bizarre is just to see talented people involved in such a bad film. Ralph Fiennes and Uma Thurma star in it. Sean Connery plays the villain. The cinematography has some beautiful wide angle shots. The soundtrack is decent. The action is sometimes good. The problems of the film were almost entirely at script level and that is a rarity for a film this bad.

There's kind of a sad lesson to be had from the movie: sometimes it doesn't pay to be different. Coming on the heels of two Brosnan era Bond films and the first Mission Impossible, they needed something to stand out. And what did they choose? The juxtaposition between polite expressionless protagonists and random imagery like teddy bears and robot bees.

Gee, I wonder why that didn't work.
