Was just thinking about this earlier because of all the talk about cdc and whathaveyou. Apparently from the left on here, they make it sound like the right are anti-vaxxers, but is this actually true? Or are there no sides to this and anti-vaxxers encompass all types of people? For me, having no political leaning, I'm getting my shot. But is this is a political thing or are anti-vaxxers just people from all walks of life that are afraid of vaccines?

It's less political and more a personal choice and their bodies. I have friends on both sides who aren't getting the vaccine, and some that did.

From my experience, it's more on the right these days (mostly the Trumpers who believe his lies and QAnon conspiracies over science and logic) but there's still a decent amount on the left (mostly wacky hippie types who distrust the government and talk about a "more natural" approach but it's baseless voodoo nonsense) as well.

There's nothing inherently left or right about it. But there's a clear partisan bent to the anti-covid-vax crowd

Up until Trump's run, antivax was actually more associated with upwardly mobile liberals. Trump's covid response singlehandedly changed that.

It's been pretty split, historically, but has become increasingly a right wing position. There data to back this up, but you can also just look to FOX news increasingly pushing anti-vax positive language.

It's the right. The side that favors defunding education, favors religion over science, and had a shit ton of politicians and news anchors who condemned the virus as a hoax.

My oldest brother and his wife didn't vaccinate any of there 3 kids and they are demacrats. Though they are getting the covid vaccine but won't call it a vaccine. They say it's a life saving medicine lmao.

So I think it's more of a stupid person thing than a left and right thing. I am hoping this will change their minds and they will get their kids fully vaccinated.

anti-vax is generally apolitical, but for covid it's absolutely a right wing thing.

Prior to Trump, I don't think I'd ever met a single anti-vaxxer who wasn't very, very far to the left. Since Trump, I don't think I've met a single one who is on the left.

Historically it was a bi-partisan form of idiocy. Nearly 50-50.

Of late due to COVID it has skewed heavily right.

There was a time where when I thought of anti-vaxxers, I thought of the liberal hippie types.

Now it seems to be more of an alt-right conservative thing, and I have no idea when that "shift" took place.

It used to be evenish, with right wing Libertarian conspiracy types and left wing hippies.

But because covid is now affecting business/economy widely... the right wing nuts who are think you should die for the economy, are now idiotically anti vaxx.

"Back in the day" it could be considered a hippy/left wing thing, and certainly still are some like that. But in modern times, since Wakefield's discredited publication and celebrities pushing it? Very much a right wing thing.

I'd say I've only seen it as a left wing thing until recently with the Covid vaccine. At least here in California, the right have never been too vocal about it until now. Otherwise it's been almost exclusively the far left all natural hippie mom demographic. Like when there was all that talk about vaccines causing autism and stuff was when I saw it the most.

It's not political. I have friends and family who fall in this group. They all lean left. I also have plenty of right-wing coworkers who are a part of this group.
