On my 12 string guitar. Never bought strings before. What is the smaller one called? Any special names? Trying to find strings but I only find full sets, maybe just get one full set , they are cheap anyway.

You're supposed to take all of them off at least. Preferably to restrings as to keep the amount of tension equal throughout

If it's your first time and you've owned it for more than 2 or three months, go have a professional do it and ask if you can watch them restring it.

We're in the age of the internet. Stringing a guitar is painfully easy. Just watch a youtube video.

Stringing and tuning a 12 string is a bit more difficult, and if he doesn't know what to do at all yet (which is odd considering he owns a 12 string, usually you don't usually start on one) than I agree he should learn if he is willing to do it right.

If he's gonna go out and try to just grab a string for it out of a pack, may as well pay the extra 20-30 bucks just for comfort of mind if it's a 500+ dollar guitar

My bf knows how to string a guitar, Ive seen how its done but not done it yet, either way stringing one is not a problem.

I dont understand why Id have to restring all of them if it one broke. Besides the guitar still sounds good without this one, at least for the stuff I play.
