He was doing well by defending his teammates. I think he overestimated his speed and didn't think he'd get caught.

Exactly. His role was support and evacuation. And the opening scene at the white house established this. Him trying to go on the offensive was moronic, and without him the rest of the team didn't stand a chance.

I hate how every speedster is a hard-core jobber bc if they ever used their brains they'd be untouchable.

Whether he got caught throwing punches or had gotten caught trying to push somebody out of the way, the result would eventually be the same. Omni-Man was onto him, he knew what was happening. He would have gone straight for him one way or the other.

Besides, somebody had to go on offense, and he had the best shot of getting a hit in and getting out quickly. At the end of the day, they all died because Omni-Man was just too strong and fast for them.

They also didnt know how seriously to take him until he started to go for blood. Then they had that "It's him or us" moment

I think he expected to win the fight with his teammates' help, like always. You never expect it to go wrong until it does.

Nah, the trio of Immortal, War Woman, and Martian Dude were beating him pretty good. If dumbass Josef didn't kill himself immediately the guardians could have won.

That's why this scene is so stuck on my brain. It's just so frustrating. I feel the same way about the end of season 4 GoT. People losing for dumb reasons always irks me.

I don't want to spoil the comics, but one of the main reasons they lost is because they were caught by surprise and didn't have time to really think it through. Everybody was acting on impulse, because Omni-Man was on the attack and they never had much time to gather their thoughts.

Yeah, Red Rush fucked up. Should've gone for help instead of trying to go up against Omni-Man. He had to know that only War Woman and Immortal had a chance to last more than 30 seconds. Which, in retrospect, is about how long they lasted lol

Yeah, there's not even really any argument about that. Omni-Man turning hero killer and going after their team is an immediately put the entire world and all heroes on high alert level event.

Its a weird change from the comic because in the comics, they didnt even stand a chance against him. He blitzed most of them. Its in the show that showed he was given a hard time.

The power levels are very different in the show. Fwiw, Kirkman is attached to it (Season 1 so far, at least) with storyboards and revisions. IIRC he's said it's a "second draft" of the core Invincible story.

Red Rush definitely should have kept running interference but to him, time moves extremely slowly and he probably saw more then we did with his parries that made him overconfident. He didn't expect Omni Man would make adjustments so quick, and died for it.

If anyone should have tried to escape to warn the world it's fucking Batman, lol.

That would mean leaving his freinds behind to possibly get slaughtered without his support. Plus, even if he had, then what? Omni man would still have streamrolled them and earth's defenses at the time regardless.

It sucks but super speed is probably the hardest non hax abilitys to properly balance. So most writers settle for just making them jobbers.

If Red Rush had warned the world, Omniman wouldn't have had any reason to wait around and would have immediately just wiped out the planet, so it probably worked out for the best.

That's a good point, Omniman basically solo'd a whole alien planet which fucked it up pretty badly.
